Introduction
If at the beginning DC DIMMING was available on all devices that used Oxygen 11 operating system (in some cases it needed to be activated via adb), after the update to version 12/13, the possibility of activating the function manually has also disappeared. This is certainly a big shortcoming, especially compared to its competitors, such as Xiaomi.
Here comes the turning point . Through the 4pda.to platform (the famous Russian modding site that competes with Xda-developers) a user has developed an application able to restore the DC DIMMING and be able to use the function (for now in beta version) so as to be able avoid the annoying flickering that accuses almost all smartphones equipped with OLED screens. This works on all Oneplus devices up to version 12/13 of the operating system (Oneplus 9, 9 pro, 10 pro etc.).
New DC Dimming Requirements
Unfortunately, the procedure is not that simple and requires possession of the Root on the device. In addition to this, you need to have installed the EdXposed module. For these two steps I refer you directly to the XDA forum where, depending on your device, you will find the guide to root and install Magisk ---> EdXposed. The procedures are safe and the risk of bricking your device is very low. In addition, there are several tools on the forum (called MSM) that will allow you to return to the factory settings without any danger.
Wanting to summarize the requirements:
- Unlocking the Bootloader
- Root of your device
- Magisk installation and Zygisk module activation
- Installing the EdXposed component
Although all this may seem very complex to you, in reality it can be done within half an hour using your PC.Let's begin!
With the assumption that you have Magisk installed and EdXposed activated you will need to download the apk of the EdXposed component (you have to download the .apk file and install it as a normal application)

The interface is totally in Chinese but don't worry because the steps to follow are few and relatively simple.
Dc Dimming activation
As soon as you enter ODimlayer you must grant root permissions and a notification will also appear asking you to activate the newly installed Xposed module. Simply enter the Xposed manager and activate the new module following the instructions in the image below ( System Ui + System Framework ). Finally restart your device to apply the changes.
Problem solving
- One of the shortcomings of the beta phase of the app is the incompatibility with other systems that affect the colors of the screen (such as the hottest color gradation at night). For now it is possible to get around this problem only by deactivating the anti DC-Dimming layer (which is not very convenient indeed).
- If you find the application open every time you unlock your device, just delete the application from the recent apps tab so as not to have it anymore during the device unlocks.
Conclusions
Everything should be working at this point and you will no longer have the annoying flickering!
The module has been tested on all devices with Oxygen 12/13 / ColorOS 12/13 so it will also work on your Oneplus. For any other information / doubts write me in the comments below and I will reply as soon as possible.
